Checking the plate heat exchanger for leaks
Client
Our client is one of the largest beverage producers in Ukraine. Due to the terms of the confidentiality agreement, we do not disclose its location and name.
Problem
The company requested a routine inspection of the plate heat exchangers to detect problems in time and prevent a decrease in efficiency.
Task
It was necessary to conduct a gas test and check the heat exchangers for leaks.
Technical solutions
A gas test was conducted to assess the tightness of the heat exchangers inside between the plates and outside.
The process consisted of the following steps:
- Conducting a gas test using special equipment to detect leaks.
- Analysis of the test results and discussion with the client.
Result
During testing, one of the heat exchangers not only showed gas leakage between the plates, but also salt deposits on the plates and pipes during disassembly.
These salt deposits deformed the seals and disrupted the heat exchanger, which created the risk of mixing the product with process water, microbiological contamination, and reduced heat exchange efficiency.
