Operating Principle & Key Components
The SW4 single seat control valve is designed to regulate or shut off fluid flow in processing lines. It operates pneumatically — using compressed air to move the valve stem and open the valve, while a spring mechanism returns the valve to its closed position when air pressure is released.
Two actuator configurations are available:
-
NC (Normally Closed): Air pressure lifts the valve stem to open; a spring lowers it to close.
-
NO (Normally Open): Air pressure lowers the valve stem to close; a spring lifts it to open.
The standard SW4 valve comes equipped with the CU4 Direct Connect control unit. Integrated LED indicators show the valve’s current open or closed position, enhancing process visibility.
Main Components of the SW4 Valve
-
Control Unit – Monitors and indicates valve position via LED signals.
-
Actuator Screw – Connects and secures the actuator to the valve body.
-
Pneumatic Actuator – Powers the opening and closing movement of the valve stem.
-
Yoke – Supports and aligns the actuator and valve body components.
-
Valve Shaft – Transfers motion from the actuator to the seat mechanism.
-
Upper Housing – Encases the shaft and provides structural support.
-
Valve Seat – Ensures tight shut-off and precise flow control.
-
Lower Housing – Forms the fluid-contact part of the valve and connects to the process line.
-
Sealing Assembly – Includes elastomer seals that maintain hygiene and prevent leakage.
